Advisory

Beginning in the 6th grade, students will be assigned an academic advisor who will work with them throughout their middle school experience.

Advisors get to know their advisee well, as they meet with them twice a week during the advisory period. During this time, students and their advisor spend time discussing issues relevant to life in the middle school. Topics include, but are not limited to, being organized, time management, managing stress, peer pressure, making choices, and academic success.

The academic advisor will also work individually with the student to develop long and short-term personal and academic goals and will facilitate the student- led parent conferences during the second and third trimester.

Parents are encouraged to speak directly with the their child’s academic advisor should they have any concerns about their child. The advisor serves as a liaison to all members of the middle school faculty.
