Extreme Experiences

In further fulfillment of our philosophy as to the importance of experiential learning, Heschel West Middle School students will be encouraged to participate in extreme sports exploratories ranging from mountain biking to surfing. Given the natural inclination of many in the subject age group to participate in such activities, we believe that this part of the program will go a long way towards creating a school that is sought after by middle school students because of its cutting edge qualities.

“Extreme Experiences” will be about more than merely extreme sports. It will be about nature and the environment, about survival skills, and about teaching outdoor education and appreciation.

In addition to these extreme experiences we will also offer more exploratories that are relevant to the life of the student. They might include: Babysitting, First-Aid, Cooking, Photography, Music, Yearbook, School Paper, Filmmaking, Jazz and Modern Dance, Mock Trials, Stock Market, Jewish Arts and Crafts, Jewish Theatre, Yiddish Club, and many more.
