Capital Campaign

Building Values and Community

Presently, Heschel West accommodates students in grades TK through Seventh Grade with enrollment in excess of 260 students. In September 2007 we will open our Eighth Grade class, successfully completing our Middle School program. Most importantly, we will soon begin construction of a state-of-the-art new campus on a beautiful 72-acre parcel of land in Agoura, purchased by our families in 1997 as a permanent home for Heschel West.

Anticipating the demand for Jewish education and infrastructure in the Conejo Valley, in 1998, with funds donated by school board members, Heschel West acquired 72 acres of undeveloped land adjacent to the City of Agoura Hills.

The project, as approved, is approximately 160,000 square feet and was to be built in five phases over 13 years. However, due to our growth (80% in four years), that schedule will not accommodate our anticipated enrollment. The construction of a new campus includes a two-phase capital project that will ultimately require $50 million to complete. This campus will provide for a student population of 750, servicing some 400 families in the Conejo Valley and West San Fernando Valley.

We realize we are building much more than school buildings. We are participants who have assumed a leadership role in a global strategy to help build the worldwide soul of the Jewish community through our local efforts. Through our school, we are building the soul of the Jewish future for our next generation. We are building Jewish and secular knowledge, leadership, and deep core values. We are creating sustainability through excellence. We are forming identity and character through values. We are molding good human beings.

After 12 years of success, we are now being nationally recognized as a school that has built models of Jewish and secular education that can be replicable models of excellence and learning, transportable to schools across the country and the world. Heschel West will be more than another Jewish Day School; Heschel West will be the one that is influencing the excellence of Day School education everywhere through the sharing of educational programming and the encouragement of other Jewish day schools to do the same.
